Port Café & Duty-Free Shop Assistant - Guernsey

We have an exciting opportunity for a Café et Duty-Free Shop Assistant to join the team at our two brand new Port Café & Duty-Free Shops in Guernsey Harbour on a part-time, permanent basis. This role forms part of fantastic team of which you will be a key member by being the face of our brands and exceeding customer service expectations always.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service, eager to learn and able to share our values.

In this role you will be in charge of running one of the two Guernsey Harbour Café and Duty-Free shops. This will include all aspects of the shop and café operation including equipment & facilities, Health & Safety, customer care and administration.

Some of the key responsibilities in the role are:

Missions 

 

  • Ensuring the development of the passenger experience, turnover and margin. 
  • Engaging with our customers with brilliant customer service and adhering to accounting protocols. 
  • Social media involvement with promotion of the outlets. 
  • Managing stock by taking delivery, monitoring incoming and outgoing goods and carrying out inventories. 
  • Managing cash receipts and ensure that tills are properly closed and balanced. 
  • Responsible for the ordering of liquor, tobacco, wines, spirits and confectionery, fragrances, cosmetics also toys & games, technology and other tax-free areas. 
  • Monitor/evaluate visual checks/food items sell by dates regularly, adhering to stock rotation. 
  • Ensuring equipment and materials are in good working order, reporting any faults. 
  • Complying with all specific food safety legislation, procedures and standards. 
  • Ensuring presentation of food and hot drinks is of a high standard. 

In addition, you will set and maintain the highest standards of customer service in the shops, ensure a high standard of cleanliness at all times, follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work, ensure the safe operation of the shops and use equipment in a safe manner. You will ensure any administration tasks and records are compiled accurately.  

Important details to know:

  • Early starts will be required as shift times are set around departure times.
  • Food Hygiene qualification would be desirable
  • Reside within a reliable commute of Guernsey or be willing to relocate.
  • Experience in the sales/Food & Beverage sector preferred
