We have an opportunity for a Freight Operations Clerk to join our Freight team based in Guernsey, reporting to the Freight Manager.

The Role

This role forms part of a fantastic, hardworking team of which you will be a key member.  The role combines office duties and activities in and around the Port.  This is a varied role combining office duties and activities in and around the Port.  This is a Customer facing role with a strong focus on providing a high quality of service for our clients

The purpose of this role is to assist in completion of the Freight movements within the Port of Guernsey, including manifesting, control of the loading and discharge processes, and carrying out inspections of trailers and freight vehicles. 

You will also be involved with:

  • Overseeing and manage the preparation/completion of all paperwork relating to vessel movements, ensuring that all legislative procedures are followed and that paperwork is accurate.
  • To inspect and report on the condition of all trailers and unaccompanied vehicles into and out of the RZ (Restricted Zone).
  • To manage and control the allocated space to Condor Ferries within the RZ.
  • To ensure that all vehicles for the use of Condor operations are clean, fuelled and inspected on a daily basis.
  • To take responsibility for the safe keeping and maintenance of company assets and to equipment leased to Condor Passenger & Freight offices, in or related to the port.
  • To, at all times, represent Condor to our clients, and the general public in accordance with the company standards, regulations and requirements
  • To carry out any additional duties or functions delegated by the Freight Manager, as deemed necessary for the smooth running of the Port Operation.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience of using Microsoft Office packages and the ability to pick up new IT systems quickly.  You must have an excellent level of customer service skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt quickly within a fast-paced environment. This role also requires a high level of initiative, strong problem solving, and the ability to remain level headed and calm.
